Frieze launched an exciting new international art fair in Seoul in 2022, in a unique collaboration with the Galleries Association of Korea. Slated to run from September 2nd to 5th at COEX in the vibrant Gangnam district of Seoul, Frieze Seoul represents a shared commitment to celebrating the city’s thriving creative community. The fair will is held in conjunction with Kiaf SEOUL, South Korea’s premier art fair with a 20-year history of showcasing the best Korean galleries. Together, these two events bring galleries from across Asia and the world to Seoul, creating an unmissable week of artistic engagement for both local and international audiences. Seoul, with its exceptional artists, galleries, museums, and collections, is the natural choice for Frieze’s newest venture, and the collaboration with the Galleries Association of Korea marks a forward-thinking partnership that is perfectly suited to the times.

In its inaugural year, Frieze Seoul features approximately 100 galleries, with a primary focus on contemporary art complemented by a dedicated Frieze Masters section showcasing art from antiquity through to the 20th century. Leveraging the expansive Frieze global network, the event will place world-class programming and civic engagement at the heart of Frieze Week in Seoul,  a week filled with artistic exploration and cultural immersion. Dal-Seung Hwang, the Chairman of Galleries Association of Korea, expressed pride in the partnership with Frieze and the excitement of welcoming art enthusiasts from around the world to Seoul. This collaboration comes at a time of heightened global interest in the Korean art market, reinforcing Seoul’s status as a pivotal hub in the global art scene and South Korea as a major destination for art in Asia. Frieze Seoul is poised to make an indelible mark on the international art calendar.
