Every October, London becomes a temporary capital of looking. In Regent’s Park, Frieze London and Frieze Masters return from 14–18 October 2026, bringing together almost 300 galleries from 48 countries and regions across two fairs that increasingly operate less as parallel events than as a single conversation: the contemporary speaking to the historical, the emerging to the canonical, the local to the global.

This year’s title could almost write itself: six continents in dialogue. Frieze London places discovery at the front of the experience, with solo entrance presentations by Márcia Falcão and Agata Ingarden, alongside the return of Focus, Artist-to-Artist, and the debut of The Code Universe, a new curated section led by Carol Yinghua Lu. Spanning the mid-1980s to today, the section explores mass culture, consumer objects, media flows and the visual systems that shape contemporary life, with artists including Karim Boumjimar, Nikita Kadan, Carolyn Lazard, Selma Selman, Payne Zhu and Shinro Ohtake.

Frieze London’s gallery list remains a map of the market at its most international: from London stalwarts such as Thomas Dane Gallery, Sadie Coles HQ, White Cube, Victoria Miro, Alison Jacques and Maureen Paley, to global names including Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Pace, Perrotin, David Zwirner and Thaddaeus Ropac. But the fair’s texture comes from its wider geography: South Asia through Experimenter, Jhaveri Contemporary, Nature Morte, Project 88 and Vadehra Art Gallery; Africa through blank, Southern Guild, Stevenson, Gypsum and Selma Feriani; Latin America through Casa Triângulo, Nara Roesler, OMR and Proyectos Ultravioleta.

Across the park, Frieze Masters turns art history into an active field of revision. With nearly 140 galleries from 30 countries and regions, the fair ranges from ancient civilizations and Old Masters to modern British art, Asian historical works and reassessed figures of the 20th century. Its 2026 edition sharpens that mission through Spotlight, Reflections, and the new curatorial thread Queering Modernism: Visual Languages of the 20th Century, conceived by Anke Kempkes. Rather than isolating queer histories, the project places them throughout the fair, opening unexpected encounters with artists including Claude Cahun, Judy Chicago, Lotte Laserstein, Glyn Philpot, Bahman Mohasses, Ismael Nery and Alice Neel.

The fair’s Spotlight section, curated by Dr Devika Singh and Dr Sofia Gotti, expands its global scope with solo presentations of 20th-century artists including Pacita Abad, Maliheh Afnan, Ganesh Haloi, Ernest Mancoba, Anwar Jalal Shemza, Emma Reyes and Anna Zemánková. Meanwhile, Reflections, curated by Abby Bangser, looks to two extraordinary houses — Casa Luis Barragán in Mexico City and The Cosmic House in London — as models of living, collecting and thinking through design.

What makes Frieze Week more than a fair week is the city around it. London’s institutions will be in full chorus, with exhibitions including Salman Toor: Someone Like You at the Courtauld Gallery, Robert Ryman: The Real Thing at Barbican Art Gallery, Painting the French Riviera at the Royal Academy of Arts, The Bayeux Tapestry at the British Museum, Ana Mendieta and Frida: The Making of an Icon at Tate Modern, and The 90s: Art and Fashion at Tate Britain.

Frieze Sculpture will also return to Regent’s Park’s English Gardens from 16 September to 1 November 2026, extending the fair beyond the tent and into the public landscape.

At its best, Frieze is not simply a place to buy art, but a place to recalibrate attention. The 2026 editions suggest a fair increasingly aware that art history is not fixed, geography is not peripheral, and discovery does not belong only to the new. In London this October, the conversation stretches across generations, continents and forms — and the most interesting thing may be not who speaks loudest, but who is finally being heard.
