Minimalistic shapes, lines and colours – my what colours! From the moment you come across one of his landscapes, there is no mystery as to who took the picture – Franco Fontana. What better way to celebrate the first day of spring?
Born in Modena, Italy, Franco Fontana has been taking pictures for over 40 years and his work is in approximately 60 museum collections around the world. His style might be familiar from numerous advertising campaigns for brands such as Versace, Fiat, Volkswagen, Sony, Volvo, Kodak, Canon…
He has covered all genres of the art, but it’s his landscapes that are subject to devotion and worldwide recognition. “Less is more” never seemed more appealing. He is without a doubt the photographer of the synthesis; he reduces the world to minimalist shapes, lines and colours. A beautiful simplicity which achieves a soothing effect on the viewer, powerful and emotional.
Here are just a few of our favourite images from his landscape collections.
