Everything remains in the family in Harper BAZAAR’s September issue cover. They’ve paired up Audrey Hepburn’s granddaughter, Emma Ferrer, with Richard Avedon’s grandson, Michael Avedon. An excellent tribute to the legendary photographer and his timeless muse.

“The first thing I saw when I came to America was the Statue of Liberty. The second—Richard Avedon,” said Audrey of his dear friend.

Every artist has its muse, and we have a great deal of graphic proof when it comes to Audrey Hepburn. Richard Avedon worked with some of the biggest models of all time, but he was completely enchanted by Audrey, and the relationship was mutual. The outcome played out through the 50s and 60s in some of the most relevant pages of Harper BAZAAR.

“I am, and forever will be, devastated by the gift of Audrey Hepburn before my camera…,” said Avedon of Audrey. “I cannot lift her to greater heights. She is already there. I can only record, I cannot interpret her. There is no going further than who she was….She has achieved in herself her ultimate portrait.”

Half a century later, the high-end magazine seems to be paying a tribute to this inspirational duo, taking a stroll down the family tree. Emma Ferrer, Audrey Hepburn’s granddaughter, is the daughter of Sean Hepburn, Audrey’s first son. She has stayed out of the spotlight all of her life and has no intention of following her grandmother’s steps, but no one can deny she has done a wonderful job reviving Hepburn’s iconic style and spirit.

Of course, isn’t it every girl’s dream to be the star of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” just for a day, and be dressed up with Lanvin, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Lauren, Tods, Maxmara…and naturally, jewellery from Tiffany & Co.

And that’s when the word “serendipity” gets big, for what better way to complete the story but with Michael Avedon, who happens to be legendary Richard Avedon’s grandson.

Emma, 22, is currently pursuing a fine arts career but maintains that she is “interested in being involved in the fashion world, but not completely,” according to her interview with Harper’s Bazaar. Michael, 23, is a photographer who has done fashion editorials for Harper’s Bazaar Paris and Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book and is also active on the New York art scene.
