The exhibition Mad About The Boy opens tomorrow at LCF Fashion Space, just in time for London Collections Men AW16. A look into the fixation of fashion with youth culture and the way teenage boys are portrayed through specific fashion images and collections.
Curated by Showstudio’s Lou Stoppard, the exhibition focuses on this constant inspiration in fashion; how ‘The Boy’ has sparked the success of many designers such as Raf Simons, Hedi Slimane or Gosha Rubchinskiy. The show presents the work of current designers and image-makers, as well as select examples from the 1980s and 1990s.
As the organisers explain, “Testimony about masculinity and youth is also included to shed light on the sense of fluidity and possibility that many associate with teenage years – a time of perceived infinite opportunity, spontaneity and creative freedom.”
Designers and contributors include: Raf Simons, Kim Jones, Meadham Kirchhoff, Larry Clark, Nick Knight, Nasir Mazhar, Tyrone Lebon, Christopher Shannon, Martine Rose, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Alasdair McLellan, Jason Evans, Jun Takahashi, Brett Lloyd, Mark Leckey and JW Anderson.
Mad About The Boy will take place at the LCF Fashion Space from 8 January to 2 April 2016
