It’s more and more common to see music icons jump from their art to another, pursuing other interests which have a potential of earning them personal fulfilment, and of course, big money. One of the most notable interests is designing clothing and the latest celebrity to join the club is Rita Ora, who has become the first female artist to design a collection in colaboration with Adidas.
The singer has signed on with Adidas to design five separate collections through fall 2015. The collections will develop different themes and will include sneakers, hoodies, track pants, varsity jackets and beanies, all with Ora’s personal touch.
As Rita mentioned in a recent interview, she has studied all of Adidas’ shoes and archives from the past 50 years before designing her own collection: “I always come from the approach that they are designers and I am an artist,” she said. “The biggest advice was that [Adidas] said is to be yourself and be confident in what you’re doing and confident what you wear. When Jeremy [Scott] did Moschino and I was like, ‘Wow, aren’t you worried that McDonald’s will sue you?’ he was like, ‘You can’t worry about that stuff — the shocking things sometimes are the best things and what people want to wear.’ You have to be brave and do what you like. I think my fashion will represent that.”
The first of Rita Ora’s collections will be available at Adidas Originals stores on August 21st.
Looking forward to seeing the fresh air it might bring to the brand. Are you?
